Teardrop - Incubus (cover)
I love Massive Attack’s song Teardrop. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Incubus.
But if there’s anything I’ve ever learned, strange as this may seem, this is the song that I think made Brandon Boyd fail as a singer.
I have an overwhelming sense of respect for Brandon Boyd, I think he’s a god. But doing this cover—this is where I think, he becomes human. It doesn’t match his voice. So there goes, the whole frailty of superstars.
But even if I don’t think he did this song well, I think it’s still enjoyable to listen through. It provides me with an idea of Brandon Boyd’s humanity, that even as a celebrated, world-renown rocker, he’s still like the rest of us, dreaming to sing all the songs we know we really can’t sing well, but just do, because it’s fun. Like that. And that’s as cool and honest as anyone can get!
Good times.
Thank God for music! Cheers!
